На зорі століть життя протікало серед хаосу (chaos) і вбивств (murder). Це була кривава битва за виживання (A bloody fight for survival). Всі були голодні, і все було їжею (Everyone was hungry and everything was food). Включаючи нас (Including us). Зараз ми полюємо в супермаркетах і заміських торгових центрах (Nowadays we hunt in supermarkets and out-of-town malls), а вчені постійно модифікують їжу, щоб зробити її краще, зручніше і привабливіше. Але наскільки вона корисна (healthy) для людини?

Доктор Шеллі була дуже захоплена створенням розумною їжі (smart food), яка легко вирощується (easy to grow), сама збирається (self-picking), сама доставляється (self-deliverin g) і щаслива, що її з’їдять (happy to be eaten) . Винахідниця зовсім не врахувала, що у розумною їжі є інстинкт виживання (survival instinct). Люди були захоплені зненацька (People were taken by surprise) …

Пропонуємо завдання до відеоролика про те, як учені намагалися перехитрити природу (outwit the nature) і що з цього вийшло. Вправи №1 і №2 виконуються до перегляду ролика. Завдання №5 розраховане на роботу в класі, так як передбачає складання й обігравання діалогів.

5. Work in pairs. You are a journalist, your partner is Dr. Shelly. Roleplay an interview. Ask Dr. Shelly’s about her previous inventions and her future plans — smart food. Try to predict the result of her invention. Make use of the following words and phrases:
